A Guide to Anuga Asia for First-Time Exhibitors
Building in Bangkok: international freight, customs and the local venue rules
Exhibiting in Bangkok changes the logistics from a domestic build. There are two routes and we advise on which suits your budget: design in Mumbai and ship the pre-built, inspected stand by air or sea freight (with customs clearance and, for reusable exhibition property, an ATA carnet), or design in Mumbai and build through a vetted local Thai contractor at the venue. For a stand-only build, local construction is often more economical than shipping; for a highly branded or reusable stand, shipping can make sense.
Either way the stand is built to the Bangkok venue's own fire-safety and technical rules — not Indian FR/NOC paperwork — and we handle that local compliance, the local electrical contractor and the venue's build-up schedule. For a food stand we also plan the product side: sampling and tasting utilities, chilled or ambient storage, and, critically, the customs and food-import documentation for any product samples you bring in, which for perishable or regulated food can be the tightest constraint.
SOL runs this as your single point of contact from Mumbai — freight or local build, customs, local compliance and install — so you deal with one team and one plan rather than coordinating a foreign contractor, a freight forwarder and a customs agent yourself.
What a winning food and beverage stand needs
The stands that win listings at Anuga Asia present product and brand cleanly and support the export conversation. We design clear, well-lit product display and strong brand presence, a hygienic tasting or sampling point where the category calls for it, visible certification and export-readiness cues (FSSAI, HACCP, ISO, halal, organic as applicable), and comfortable meeting space for the distribution discussion.
We keep the message specific to your category and target market — packaged foods, beverages, ingredients, spices, snacks — because an ASEAN retail importer and a food-service distributor source differently, and a clean, export-ready product story lands far harder than a general 'Indian food' one on a regional sourcing floor.
Designing for importers, distributors and retail buyers
Buyers walk Anuga Asia with import and listing mandates for their home markets, so the stand has to present the product and then host the negotiation: a clean tasting or sampling and clear export credentials, then a conversation about pricing, MOQ, shelf-life, labelling, certification and supply reliability. We design the path from the product to that conversation, because at an export-sourcing show the product earns the meeting and the meeting earns the listing.
We keep the message specific to your market, because import requirements and buyer expectations differ across ASEAN, China, Japan and the Gulf, and a precise, market-aware presentation is engaged with far faster than a generic one.
What an Anuga Asia stand costs
The INR tiers are the design-and-build baseline: from ₹1.8 lakh for a focused 9–18 m² Essential presence, from ₹4.5 lakh for a 24–48 m² Regular build with tasting and meeting space, and from ₹12 lakh for a 50–100 m²-plus Premium island. That baseline covers design, fabrication (in Mumbai or via local partner), graphics, lighting, install and dismantle.
On top of the baseline, international freight, customs and ATA carnet (if shipping), and destination-specific local services (local fire-safety approvals, labour, rigging) are quoted per market — because Bangkok logistics, not the stand itself, are where an international build differs from a domestic one. We give you the baseline and the destination costs clearly separated, so you can compare ship-from-India against local-build honestly.
Stand sizes and layouts
Stands run from compact 9–18 m² spaces for single-brand exporters to 100 m²-plus islands and pavilions for large houses or country groups. The layout leads with clean product and brand display where the aisle sees it, keeps a hygienic tasting or sampling point accessible, and sets meeting space for the distribution conversation. Corner and island positions help a brand stand out on a busy regional sourcing floor.
Whatever the size and whether shipped or locally built, we present and light product to look export-ready and premium, because on a sourcing floor the presentation of the product is read directly as the reliability of the supplier.
Getting into the Bangkok venue: build-up timing
The Bangkok venue runs its own build-up and access schedule, and services book up early. We confirm your build slot, coordinate the local electrical contractor and fire-safety compliance, plan tasting utilities and any chilled storage, and — critically — start the freight, customs and food-import documentation early, because international shipping and perishable-sample clearance add lead time a domestic build never faces.
Because customs and local build-up are the real constraints abroad, we lock the freight-or-local-build decision and the documentation plan in weeks ahead, not on move-in week.
Reusing your stand across the Asian circuit
Food and beverage exporters exhibit across the Asian and Gulf sourcing circuit — Anuga Asia, Gulfood, Fi and the regional shows — so a modular reusable stand designed to travel is strong value. Where you ship, we store the core and manage the carnet so it moves show to show; where you build locally, we keep the design and specification on file so each market is a rebuild-to-spec, not a redesign. We refresh graphics and product display for each edition either way.
Common mistakes, in order of frequency
- Leaving international freight and food-sample customs clearance too late and missing the build window.
- Assuming Indian venue paperwork applies — Bangkok has its own fire-safety and technical rules.
- A generic 'Indian food' stand with no market-specific export or certification cues.
- No hygienic tasting point or meeting space on an export-sourcing floor.
Getting Started
Send your stand size, your hall and stand number once the organiser has issued it, and a short note on what will physically happen on the stand. You get a 3D design and an itemised all-in quote, at no charge and with no obligation.
