A Guide to Autotechnicia for First-Time Exhibitors
Building at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Goregaon: the rules that shape your stand
The BEC (NESCO) is Mumbai's principal venue — a multi-hall complex on the Western Express Highway with its own access and marshalling discipline. Hall heights and column grids vary by hall, and for a two-post lift or a scissor lift the hall's height envelope is decisive, so we design to the specific hall rather than a generic assumption.
Garage equipment is heavy and often tall in operation: lifts, alignment systems, tyre changers and balancers need floor loading planned to the venue's limits, three-phase power against a declared load, and safe operating clearance when demonstrated. Parts displays, by contrast, need robust fixtures that survive constant handling. Power is ordered through the official contractor ahead of the deadline; all materials are FR-treated with certificate and fire NOC filed before move-in; finishing is completed off-site; and two-storey builds need a structural-stability certificate from a licensed engineer.
The home-ground advantage is real: our workshop is minutes from the BEC, so there is no long road freight, crating is shorter, and we can react fast during build-up and set, level and commission a lift or alignment rig carefully — which matters when equipment must operate safely in front of the public.
What a winning aftermarket stand needs
The stands that win distribution at Autotechnicia are hands-on. For parts brands, we design robust, well-organised, handleable displays where fitment and build quality can be inspected, with clear range, coverage and margin information. For equipment brands, we design an operating platform where a lift, tyre changer or diagnostic system can be worked by the visitor, with the floor loading, power, clearance and guarding it needs, and payback and durability data alongside.
We keep the message specific to your segment — parts, lubricants, garage equipment, diagnostics, bodyshop, accessories — because a parts distributor buying on margin and coverage and a workshop owner buying on payback and uptime assess completely differently, and a hands-on, numbers-backed proposition lands far harder than a general 'aftermarket solutions' one.
Designing for distributors, workshops and fleet operators
Buyers walk Autotechnicia with stocking, equipment and territory decisions, so the stand has to let them handle the product and then talk commercials: a part inspected or a machine operated, then a conversation about coverage, quality, margins, territory, service and payback. We design the path from the hands-on moment to that conversation, because at a distribution show the handling earns the interest and the meeting earns the territory.
We keep the message specific to your buyer, because a multi-state distributor, an independent garage and a fleet workshop want different proof, and a precise, margin- or payback-led statement is engaged with far faster than a general one.
What an Autotechnicia stand costs
A turnkey SOL stand at Autotechnicia runs from ₹1.8 lakh for a focused 9–18 m² Essential presence, from ₹4.5 lakh for a 24–48 m² Regular build with parts display or operable equipment and a meeting area, and from ₹12 lakh for a 50–100 m²-plus Premium raw-space, multi-equipment or double-deck build. The figure is all-inclusive — design, fabrication, graphics, lighting, delivery within Mumbai, install, dismantle and the venue paperwork — with only the organiser's floor space outside it.
What moves the number is heavy garage-equipment floor loading and height, an operating lift or alignment demonstration with three-phase power and guarding, or robust high-handling parts fixtures. What you do not pay extra for is flooring, material handling and electrical fit-out — and because this is our home venue, you also save the freight an out-of-Mumbai builder would add.
Stand sizes and layouts
Stands run from compact 9–18 m² spaces for parts, tool and consumable suppliers up to 100 m²-plus raw-space builds carrying operating lifts and alignment systems for major equipment houses. The layout puts the handleable parts display or the operating machine where the aisle sees it, keeps safe clearance and guarding around anything that lifts or rotates, and sets a meeting area for the distribution conversation. Corner and island positions help operating equipment be seen.
Whatever the size, we build display robust enough for three days of handling and set equipment to operate safely, because on an aftermarket floor a well-built, working stand is itself an argument about your build quality.
Getting into the BEC: build-up timing
The BEC runs a tight build-up and dock schedule, and power and handling book up early. We confirm your build slot, calculate and order three-phase power through the official contractor before the deadline, plan floor loading, the height envelope and the forklift schedule for equipment move-in, and — because we're local — schedule a short, reliable delivery so the stand lands and any lift or rig is set, levelled, guarded and commissioned in good time.
Being Mumbai-based, we can level and commission garage equipment carefully during build-up rather than against a long freight's clock — which matters when a lift will carry weight in front of visitors.
Reusing your stand between editions
Aftermarket brands exhibit at Autotechnicia, Automechanika New Delhi and the regional automotive circuit across the year, so a modular reusable stand designed around your equipment and display footprints is strong value. We store the core in Mumbai, refresh graphics and range display for each edition, and keep your power and handling orders on file — so the next show is a refresh and a re-set of the equipment, not a rebuild.
Common mistakes, in order of frequency
- A look-only equipment display on a floor where workshop owners buy what they've operated.
- Under-planning floor loading, height or three-phase power for lifts and alignment rigs.
- Operating equipment without guarding or clearance — a hazard and a credibility failure.
- Parts messaging with no coverage, margin or payback numbers for a distributor.
Getting Started
Send your stand size, your hall and stand number once the organiser has issued it, and a short note on what will physically happen on the stand. You get a 3D design and an itemised all-in quote, at no charge and with no obligation.
